Teino Best Practices

Follow-up Made Simple, Discipleship Made Possible

Why best practices matter

Teínō helps churches care for people intentionally-not just track them. A good tool becomes a great one when used on purpose. These best practices help your team stay consistent, effective, and spirit-led.

1. Follow up within 24 hours

First impressions matter. Follow up within 24 hours to show care and intentionality. Use the "contacted within 24hrs" checkpoint in Teínō.

2. Use tags to organize

Tags help you categorize contacts by type, status, or need:

New Visitor First-Time Salvation Needs Baptism Returning Guest Single Mom Young Adult No Response Needs Ride Interested in Small Groups

3. Add notes after every interaction

Notes keep your team unified and help avoid repetitive or misaligned follow-up.

4. Use checkpoints for progress

Track discipleship journey stages clearly. Example checkpoints:

Contacted within 24hrs
Attended a second service
Joined a small group
Completed baptism
Completed foundations class

5. Assign contacts

Each contact should be assigned to one team member for accountability and care.

6. Pray before you follow up

Prayer prepares your heart to minister with love, wisdom, and discernment.

7. Be personal, not generic

Don't just check boxes-build relationships.

"Hey Jess! It was great meeting you Sunday. I've been praying about your interview-how did it go?"

8. Keep contact info updated

Double-check phone numbers and emails. Use tags like Needs Update if you can't connect.

9. Celebrate milestones

Tag and recognize wins like Baptized or New Member.

10. Weekly progress review

Set aside time weekly to review who's been followed up with and who still needs connection.
